COVID-19 Vaccine Update

Dear Patients,

We are happy to be able to share with you the most up-to-date information regarding the widening distribution plans for the COVID-19 vaccine in our region. Please remember that the process of organizing a massive, nation-wide vaccine distribution is a harrowing task, though we can assure you that anybody who wants the vaccine will be able to get it at some point. Your continued patience as the various health departments (local and national) work to set up a distribution process is very much appreciated.

In Virginia, the Governor has recently petitioned to move onto the next phase of vaccine distribution (Group 1B), and each jurisdiction is working on methods to get the vaccine distributed via their local Health Department. See below how Alexandria City, Fairfax County, and Arlington County are responding. For information about other jurisdictions, please refer to their individual Health Department websites.

Please note that Amelia Heart & Vascular Center has not been invited to participate in the distribution of the vaccine as of yet. Additionally, no public updates have been made about commercial pharmacy involvement.

1) Alexandria City: Distributing to Group 1A; Starting Distribution to Group 1B on 1/11/2021

Alexandria City has asked its 1B and 1C eligible residents to start registering online. They will be notified when an appointment can be granted for their vaccine.

2) Fairfax County: Distributing to Group 1A; Starting Distribution to Group 1B on 1/11/2021

Fairfax County has asked its 1B eligible residents to call the Health Department’s vaccine hotline at 703-324-7404 (Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) to register for an appointment, beginning Monday, Jan. 11. *Expect long hold times*

An online registration/appointment option is reportedly being created as well.

3) Arlington County: Currently distributing to Groups 1A and 1B

Arlington has now asked its 1B and 1C eligible residents to start registering online. They will be notified when an appointment can be granted for their vaccine.
